WELCOME ABOARD
We hope you have enjoyed a wonderful summer and would like to thank those of you who visited us over the holiday season. We experienced some spectacular days at the Gondola with incredible views of the Kaikoura ranges, Banks Peninsula and Southern Alps. Our Tramway operation has been busy with a special Horse Tram event to celebrate the Tram extension into Cashel Street, and preparing for the Ellerslie Flower Show. Thanks to its success in 2009, our High Tea Tram is back for a second year and bookings are already flooding in. All of our Trams will be decorated with beautiful floral displays so make sure you come and check them out. Enjoy the last days of summer and we look forward to welcoming you, your family and friends, to our attractions again soon!

TRAM & GONDOLA SUPERSTARS!
Our "Superstar" this month is Katey Le Breton, our 'Speedy Host' and retail assistant at the Gondola and Tram Station stores. Katey has worked with the Welcome Aboard group for over 12 months and has really enjoyed the variety her role brings. Some of Katey's most memorable moments include chasing 'Speedy', (our promotional Gondola trailer) down Colombo Street while helping with the Christmas Santa Parade, and standing with 'Speedy' in the rain and wind at the A&P Royal Show. Katey is from Kaikoura and spent six years working at a local souvenir shop before moving to the 'big smoke' a year ago. Katey really enjoys living in Christchurch, spending time with her family & friends, and walking her chocolate Labrador "Kahn". If you see Katey and 'Speedy' out and about in Christchurch, please don't hesitate to stop and say hello.

UPCOMING EVENTS

HIGH TEA, ELLERSLIE SHOW HIGHLIGHT!
Back by popular demand, we are offering high tea onboard our Restaurant Tram for the duration of the Ellerslie International Flower Show. Sit back, relax and view the city with its floral themed streets, whilst listening to a special Garden City commentary from our driver. Enjoy a delicious selection of scones, cupcakes and club sandwiches with filter coffee or tea. Take a break from the many floral themed events and view our Garden City in style! If parking at the Ellerslie Show proves difficult, leave your car in the central city and use your Annual Pass membership to ride the Tram to Hagley Park. A convenient and relaxing way to begin and end, your Ellerslie Flower Show experience!
The High Tea tram departs daily at 1.30pm, 10th - 14th March, from Hagley Park tram stop on the corner of Park Terrace & Armagh Street. Bookings essential, ph 364 9921 (Mon-Fri, 8.30am-5pm). Cost $35 per person.

COMPANY UPDATE

TRAM EXTENSION UPDATE
Progress on the tramway extension appears to be racing ahead with the City Mall section completed before Christmas and celebrated with the crowd-pleasing running of a horse tram. Now the section along High Street towards Hereford Street is well advanced with much of the track already set in concrete. Over Easter the track will be constructed across Hereford Street in preparation for work to continue back into Cathedral Square. The entire tram extension is due to be completed in time for the Rugby World Cup in 2011.

PUNTING AT MONA VALE
Punting on the Avon now proudly operates the punt at Mona Vale Homestead. This route has proved popular as it passes through one of the most beautiful gardens in Canterbury. We invite all Annual Pass members to visit us at Mona Vale Homestead, enjoy high tea followed by a leisurely punt down the river. View some of Christchurch's most spectacular homes and relax in this beautiful tranquil setting. Wander the grounds to discover the fernery and rose garden currently in full bloom. So refined, so serene, and so very Christchurch!
